Day 9 & Physio Clothes

Today it rained. I love the rain and all I want to do when it rains is stay inside and cuddle up watching a movie or something like that. However I promised one of my uni friends yesterday that we would go shopping because she wants to buy a onsie and I need so clothes for pre, during and post physio workouts. It's getting very cold now in the morning and in the evenings and I can no longer exercise without feeling like I'm dying of frost bite. I have my eye on some skinny flashdance pants from Lorna Jane. I really love these and they seem so practical for cycling, pilates, post swimming, just everything. The only problem? Lorna Jane is seriously expensive. Not Lululemon expensive, but more money then I can afford. So now my problem is, do I buy them and use them all the time, i.e. wear them to physio, cycling etc. or do I try and find some other pants that I can do all these things in? Yes I could just wear my leggings, but I always feel so uncomfortable just walking around in leggings. Problems, problems, problems. I would rather be thinking about these petty dilemmas than everything else that I usually think about.  What should I do?

I always feel so awkward going to physio because I never know what to wear. One week she'll ask me to take my pants off, the next she won't. It's awkward because I am quite possibly the youngest person that goes to my physio, as it is a specialist hip physio. Everyone else is seriously old and wears old people clothes. Whereas, I should probably really be wearing leggings or shorts, clothes that I can move in. I just feel really weird walking around in leggings and workout clothes when no-one else is. So I thought that these pants are quite casual and they aren't obviously workout clothes so it makes me feel a lot better about going to the physio in them. That's why i was thinking I should buy them... Complicated I know!

UPDATE!!! I bought the pants. $80. I know they were so expensive, but I'm pretty sure that rehab is going to be long and painful so why the hell not? I thought I'd treat myself as most of my exams are over. I just have to use them. I have to exercise and do my physio exercises now. I'll have to use them often now as I spent so much money on them. I guess I could always take them back, but I think I'll keep them. I can't believe I bought them!!

Day 9: Have you ever tried any alternative therapies? If so, what? Did they work?
Not really... I went to the chiropractor for about 5 months when I first started getting migraines. This guy said he could cure them, however it cost so much and it wasn't really doing anything so I decided to stop and try medication and other therapies to see if that would help. With my hip, I wouldn't dare go anywhere else other than to my physio and doctor, just because my hip is so fragile. My connective tissue is already not doing it's job, I wouldn't want to slam my joints back into place at the chiro, when it wouldn't even stay in. I know that a lot of chronic pain patients, even EDS patients go to the physio, however I really don't think it's for me.

Turquoise for Dysautonomia Awareness Month

Again it's been a month since I posted... Opps! It's been an intense month! My endoscopy went well. They were worried about an anaphylactic reaction to the Propofol but luckily that didn't happen. Sadly though they didn't find anything so still no answers but I've got my gastro appointment in about 3 weeks so hopefully we'll have a plan to move forward then. I also managed to have a POTS flare after the procedure due to the 'eating and drinking nothing for 18 hours' thing. But after fluids and the threat of an admission I went home to snuggle up with Ami. Next in September was an anaphylactic reaction to peanuts, uni problems and a possible CRPS diagnosis, amongst others. Let's just focus on the possible CRPS diagnosis. As you may or may not know, I fractured my right ankle in 2014, followed by 13 weeks in a boot and crutches + 4 months of rehab, plus rehab that continues to this day. My ankle has since never be the same, but usually it...

Absent

Sorry I've been so absent recently. I've had loads of exams this week and I've been quite stressed and not super healthy. I don't think my body has been coping very well with all the stress and I've had some GI flare ups and joint issues these past couple of days. On Saturday night I went to a party and I paid for my choices the next day as I couldn't walk without my crutches. I do through phases where I am almost jumping off the walls and feeling amazing and the next day I can't walk. Boom and Bust. I've never been very good at managing the boom and bust and stress cycle. I guess I haven't really mastered the art of pacing quite yet. I also did something quite stupid in my semi-drunken state on Saturday. I told some of my friends what I'd been going through. Usually I would never say anything and I wish that I could take it back, but I can't. I guess in that moment I just felt safe. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't tell them everythi...

The wrath of medication forgetfulness

I'm really feeling the effects of my stupid forgetful brain this morning. I didn't realise how much my medication helps (because sometimes it doesn't feel like it does anything) until I forgot to take it last night. I have to admit, it probably wouldn't have been a great combination with the alcohol that was probably still in my system when I went to bed, but still, I'm really feeling the effects this morning. The bad part, my rescue medication has some seriously horrible side effects so I probably won't be taking that any time soon. I guess I deserve the pain I'm in this morning, after all I did drink and then forget to take my medication before I went to bed last night, over estimating my pain management skills I think. Now even the sound of my computer keys tapping is sending my brain into sensory overload and I have no idea how I'm going to get all my assignments done today. I deserve this, but still I feel sorry for myself. The feeling of waking u...
